Prince William Gives Heartfelt Update on Kate Middleton Following Her Cancer Battle

Prince William has opened up about his wife Kate Middleton’s health, offering a heartfelt and optimistic update following her difficult battle with cancer.

During a candid conversation with actor Eugene Levy on the Oct. 2 episode of The Reluctant Traveler on Apple TV+, the 43-year-old Prince of Wales shared that both Kate and his father, King Charles III, are doing well after their respective cancer diagnoses last year.

“Things are good,” William said. “Everything is progressing in the right way, which is all good news.” When Levy asked if Kate was in remission, William smiled and confirmed, “Yes, she is—yes… it’s great news.”

His comments come nine months after the Princess of Wales revealed that she was in remission, following nearly a year of chemotherapy treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

William also spoke about how he and Kate guided their children—Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—through such an emotional time. “Everyone has their own coping mechanisms for these things,” he explained. “The children are constantly learning and adapting. We try to make sure we give them the security and safety they need, and we’re a very open family. We talk about what bothers us and what troubles us—but you never quite know the ripple effects it can have.”

He added that being present and offering reassurance was key: “It’s just important to be there for each other and reassure the children that everything is okay.”

Reflecting on the challenges of the past year, William admitted that his family has been “lucky” to have avoided serious illness until recently, and that both Kate and King Charles’s diagnoses changed their perspective. “You suddenly realize that the metaphorical rug can be pulled from under your feet very quickly,” he said. “You always think, ‘It won’t happen to us, we’ll be fine,’ because everyone tries to stay positive. But when it does happen, it takes you into some very dark places.”

Despite the hardships, the future king expressed deep gratitude for how far his family has come. “I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had,” he reflected. “Life is meant to test us, and being able to overcome those challenges is what shapes who we are.”

In recent months, both William and King Charles have begun to reappear in public together. The father and son attended the Countdown to COP30 event at London’s Natural History Museum in October 2025, where they met with political leaders and environmental advocates ahead of the upcoming World Leaders Summit in Brazil. The appearance symbolized not only their shared commitment to global issues but also the family’s resilience after a year marked by illness and recovery.
