‘Horrified’ parents abandon newborn baby at hospital, but woman steps in to ask: ‘When can I take him?’

When Jono Lancaster was born, his parents decided not to take him home.

Treacher Collins syndrome, a rare condition that affects facial structure and hearing, was the reason they couldn’t love him.

The syndrome meant many hospital visits and possibly surgery, and they weren’t prepared for the experience.

Sadly, Jono was just a few days old when he was abandoned forever by those who were supposed to love him unconditionally.

In the days that followed, social services worked hard to find him a suitable family. Luckily, an angel, Jean, a loving and caring woman, crossed Jono’s path.

As soon as she saw him, she knew he belonged. “How can you not love a child?” she said after hearing his story. “When can I take him home?” she then asked.

For the first time in a long time, someone made fun of Jono. It reminded him to “focus on the good.”

Today, he has a partner and works as a motivational speaker. Jono makes sure to spend time with young children who have the same syndrome as him and helps them accept themselves for who they are.

“So what’s changed?” he said. “People are still the same. My parents still don’t want anything to do with me. What’s changed is my attitude, and that’s so powerful.

Instead of letting negative energy get me down, I believe in myself. I wouldn’t change a thing. My attitude was more of a liability than anything. With the right attitude, you can achieve anything. »

We are so happy that this man has learned to love himself for who he is.
